the food was very good
the rooms could do with any upgrade for the cost they were very dated apart from the tvs
the relaxed atmosphere and quality of the real ale, its town centre location making it ideal for an evening walk about
rather shabby, could do with a thorough clean up and paint
the bar facilities and the superb breakfasts
the noise from outside on friday night
The staff were welcoming. There was an order form to help ordering breakfast easier. The room was pleasant overlooking the garden and the castle.
There was a disco which I think may be a regular Saturday night event. Although the staff told us about it as soon as we arrived it would have helped to know it happened when booking. To be fair it did not prevent us from sleeping!!
Friendly staff. Room large and comfortable. Excellent location for walking holiday plus good choice of restaurants and pubs in Richmond.
Noise from pub customers. Untidy dining room. Room not cleaned every day. Average breakfast.
excellent pub food, if you go there Do have the Steak And Ale Pie.... it's the best, my Aussie mates said it was the best they'd ever had cheers
Kind and helpful staff. We had a spacious room on the top floor, where it was quiet and the noise from the downstairs pub could not be heard.
The building shows definite signs of the wear and tear of time.
The pub was a good place to sit and talk. Most modern families don't do this enough. So this was good to catch up and be with the family
we enjoyed the atmoshpere and location
The fact that you are on the doorstep to Richmond centre and its friendliness of the staff that work there.
the best bit as the location
what I did not like was that the website for the hotel gave you a false picture of the room, it was dirty and the facilities could have been a lot better.
Not being able to have supper there when we arrived at 7.30 when it was supposed to serve till 8 so we had to go into town and had a brilliant meal in a French restaurant
advertised with castle views in all rooms all we could see was the street outside
Breakfast was good and morning staff friendly. Beer garden nice and hotel in good location in town.
Not the warmest welcome and it's a very lad-ish pub downstairs. The corridors are worn and doors from the stairs into the pub open blind into the corridor. Beer garden very noisy well past midnight. Evening meal was overpriced and poorly cooked and the worst pint of Black Sheep I've ever had the misfortune to come across.
The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. The view of the castle from the room was very nice and the Black Sheep ale was perhaps the best we had in Richmond all weekend; and we tried quite a few...Overall, the Buck Hotel is great value for money. Strongly recommend.
Only minor issue is parking. There is no dedicated hotel parking since it is in the middle of Richmond therefore you need to leave your car in a nearby P&D carpark during the day.
the friendliness of staff , breakfast good. well situated for our needs.
